Self Esteem Statistics is important for everyone who wants to be successful. Low self esteem is associated with violence, school dropouts, teenage pregnancy, suicide, delinquency, and low educational achievement. One out of each 10 American adults has low self esteem and most of them have low self confidence. Self Esteem Statistics shows that most of these people will grow up to be criminals and also become a burden on society.
The educational system is very important to the growth of a country. However, the educational system in some parts of the world are not very good, especially in the states like Kentucky, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Arkansas, Mississippi, Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, Oregon, Colorado, and Massachusetts. This is the reason why many people from these states are getting low self esteem. The low self esteem statistics also show that young people are also affected by this kind of situation and in many cases young people are also developing a criminal life as well.
This is the reason why there is a need for teenagers and young people to participate in social media websites and blogs. These days, social media have become an essential part of a normal activity for everyone. In fact, some of them even consider it as a substitute for other social activities such as going out or participating in events. Many teenagers and young people even consider social media as one of their best friends. This is the reason why they are looking forward to joining social media sites even if they do not have any intentions of starting a social media profile. But here is the problem: they cannot distinguish between real life people who are just using social media for advertisement.
Social Media Effect
It is quite understandable how social media has a huge effect on teenagers. In many of the developed and lower self esteem countries, the teenagers have lower self esteem than the average individual. The reasons for this are many. First, it is easier for a teenager to develop a relationship with someone in the internet rather than with someone in real life.
Another reason for the high rate of teenage and young people having low self esteem statistics is because they often develop eating disorders. It is very common for young girls and boys, who have low self esteem to develop eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia. There are also several cases of young girls and boys who have developed low self esteem and started to suffer from body image disorders such as compulsive overeating and low self esteem. They excessively eat food just because they want to be thinner. Some of them even use food as a weapon. Such individuals should receive help immediately because such eating disorders can cause serious health problems in the long run.
Develop Self Confidence
It is also very common for teens and young adults to develop low self-confidence. Young people often feel bad about themselves even if they are not dealing with a physical problem. If a teen or a young adult develops low self-esteem, this usually results to low self-confidence and a lot of negative thoughts going through one’s mind. People who have low self-confidence often feel worthless and don’t feel like doing anything or listening to anybody.
Body image has a major impact on a person’s self esteem. When a person has a poor body image, he/she may tend to develop depression. Depression often leads to eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia. A healthy body image encourages the person to do things that make him/her look good. One should try to maintain a healthy body image at all times. It may require changing your wardrobe, giving up smoking, exercising and having a positive attitude.
Finally, some young people may develop low self esteem due to cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is when someone targets another person online because he/she is different from them. He/She does not know that person and uses cyberbullying to hurt that person. Young people can be susceptible to cyberbullying because they spend most of their time online. It is important for young people to learn more about cyberbullying so that they know how to deal with it in the future.
