An individual who suffers from non generalized anxiety will not typically develop the panic attacks and feelings that are associated with this disorder.

Ectopically Anxious

The second type of social anxiety disorder is classified as ectopically anxious. This type of disorder exhibits several physical signs, including sweating, shaking, heart palpitations, discomfort in the stomach, and so forth. However, the physical signs associated with this disorder are typically not felt by those experiencing these symptoms. Instead, the individuals suffering from these emotional symptoms often develop irrational thoughts and feelings about their situation. Some of these individuals may believe that they are having a heart attack, for instance.

As you can see, the symptoms for each type of social anxiety disorder differ. Even within each disorder, some of the symptoms may overlap. Because of this, it is essential to determine which disorder you are dealing with, and then seek treatment for it. Once you determine which symptoms you are experiencing, then you can begin seeking effective treatment options.

Treatment options for this condition vary. The most common form of treatment involves therapy and/or medication. If the symptoms you are experiencing are associated with a physical sign, you should consult your physician to rule out other causes of the symptoms you are experiencing. In addition, your physician will need to perform tests in order to rule out mental health disorders, such as depression.
